Thoughts on AI

This blog (the website that is) was made, unabashedly, with AI. Despite the obvious advantages, I feel the need to defend it, or at least explain it. I am a classical Engineering student, mechanical to be precise. I have been programming (poorly) for many years, and have always considered it a handy tool. The ability to leverage powerful computing in repetitive tasks is immediately obvious and I have learned over the years enough to get by. Nonetheless, it is not my main passion.

Programming problems, the good ones at least, are truly interesting to me from a certain perspective. They are simply a logical problem of overwhelming local optimization. There are infinite ways to create a set of functions that fundamentally achieve the same end goal. However, at least in my limited experience, the local optimization is the true bulk of these otherwise interesting steps. It is behind every step of the creation process, from the very first choice of choosing the language you wish to write in, to the exact naming convection of your individual variables.

With the advent of AI programming, I have found it rewarding to solve the big picture problems. To build based not on the how but on the what. So then, all to say that yes. I was lacking creativity. I was motivated about the prospect of a place designed to my exact specifications but agonized over the prospect of having to first become an architect.

But now I am here and it has been made. I can instead focus my time and my thought on the words upon the website rather than the invisible ones that make it tick.
